I have just been editing the work of the author, not that it need much editing. I sent the Word format file to a compiler who converted the text into a Kindle book for $50. I am now almost ready to upload the book and to organise an Audible book; just waiting for a cover design which is costing me $7.50 to have made. I will post a further blog with a link to the book when it has appeared on Amazon Kindle.
It’s surprisingly easy to publish an eBook. If you want to have a go:
You need to register with Amazon (if you already have an Amazon login use that)
Go to Kindle Direct Publishing (link below).
Just enter your details, set up how to get paid and if you are liable to US taxes and you are ready to go
If you don’t have a book to publish you can get someone to write you a book for about $600.
Once the book is converted check the layout etc using Kindle Preview installer (link at end of article)
If you get the title and the niche right it can be a nice little earner. Converting to an audio book can pay even better. Fiction is a crowded field but non-fiction, especially self-help are extremely popular and have less competition.
My book is a collection of short chapters from the real life of Alan Jones Edwards who attended the University of Hull at the age of 63 and then blossomed as a writer.
As far as I am aware he didn’t publish very much during his lifetime. There were a few poems entered into magazines but THE BOOK never made it into print or electronic media.
The book will be available on Amazon Kindle in a couple of days. The Audible version will be about a week.
To read the Kindle book you will need an app on a phone or tablet or an eBook reader such as, obviously, a Kindle or Kindle for PC which you can download free from Amazon.
Audible files can be played with the appropriate app from either the Apple App store or Google Play on android devices.
