OK. Its only a walk on part but it’s a start. Or more accurately re-start.
Lots of dramas are filmed in the North of England nowadays and they all need walk on actors or extras. These include TV dramas such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Peaky Blinders . Many feature films have been filmed in Manchester. Captain America, The First Avenger was filmed in Manchester.
Unlikely though it sounds there are streets in the Northern Quarter which can pass as new York.
I did take part in a film in summer of 2019 for two days but its highly unlikely that will ever see the light of day. That is called Growing Old Gracefully.
I cannot name the film or give any details of title, plot or even location until it’s released on pain of being taken off the books.
Of course, given the pandemic there are complications.
I have been asked to take 2 Covid-19 tests at intervals before we start.
Filming is being done with the absolute minimum of technicians, cameramen etc. and with strict social distancing which is going to force directors to be creative with camera angles. All to get a few minutes or even a few seconds of time on the screen. There’s even a risk they might not use the shots.
Anyone wanting a go can sign up with agencies such as Norf Mad dog or POP. There are no subscriptions but the agents take 20% of the fee. They are looking for all ages and ethnic groups.

UPDATE
Off to Liverpool this morning on a Dreich day. Lots of spray on the M62. Motorway closed from junction 6 due to (I found out later) 3 crashes. The road was closed from junctions 2 to 6 for at least 6 hours. Why do some people not slow down when its wet?
Anyway got to the NHS test facility and it was just a couple of swabs and time to go home.
About 3 hours to get tested for Covid. I do get paid for this, though

UPDATE Friday 29th
I have been told to stand down. This means the producer has decided they don’t need me for the part.
Ho, hum! The good news is the C-19 test is negative.
My brother mentions that one of the singers in the song quoted above was a bit wooden.
We should remember that in the end he became a real boy.
