I find it amazing how nowadays so many men wear shorts and completely inadequate footwear right through the winter when they go to the supermarket.  OK, I admit that in lowland England we don’t get ‘proper winter’ like they do in the mountains, in Central Europe or the Northern US States, but we often get sub zero temperatures in December, January and February.  It often feels much colder in the well known English rain of which he have had more than usual this winter.

Strangely enough some of them top off shorts T shirt and flip flops with a woolly hat.  Others team up a T shirt and a scarf; The logic escapes me.

I feel cold just looking at them in this garb.  I suppose I am just switching into old codger mode as I think about what happens if their nice warm car breaks down on the way home.

I don’t get the impression that these men, are dressing this way to show off.  The majority are younger but even some pensioners are now dressing like this in the freezing cold.

Anyway, today I didn’t quite feel the same chill as it’s up to 9 degrees.  That’s 48 Fahrenheit which sounds even better.

I remember my father, even when on holiday, would still wear his sports jacket and a tie.  I am not saying we should go back to that but perhaps men’s clothing is getting too casual nowadays.  The above probably says more about me than about these men.
